Donna Hilfiker, 84
Donna Lea (Watson) Hilfiker, 84, passed away Nov. 15, 2024, in Salem, Ore. Born on Feb. 16, 1940, Donna was a wonderful wife, an amazing mom and grandma, and a great friend.
Throughout her life, Donna was deeply devoted to her career as an organ and piano teacher, sharing her passion for music with countless students. Her hobbies included puzzles, cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting and gardening, all of which brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Watson and Eva Watson, and her sister, Nancy Funke. She is survived by her spouse, Bill Hilfiker; daughters Kelli Mahlum (David Mahlum) and Karen Hilfiker (Barry Saxberg); grandson Andrew Mahlum; great-grandchildren Aria and Logan Mahlum; grandson Reece Mahlum; and brother Jim Watson (Linda Watson.)
She attended Winton Elementary, graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School, and earned an associate’s degree at a business school in Spokane, Wash., laying the foundation for her lifelong love of learning and music. Salem, Ore., became her home in 1960. She married Bill Hilfiker on May 19, 1962.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marion County Dog Services or the Marion County Food Bank, causes that were dear to Donna's heart. Her legacy of love, music, and kindness will forever resonate with those who knew her.
