PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lake City holds off Mountain View late
COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Sadie Zimmerman scored a game-high 15 points, hitting six of her seven free-throw attempts in the second half to lift Lake City over Mountain View of Meridian 40-35 at Lake City High on Thursday.
“We played really, really hard,” Lake City coach David Pratt said. “It was close down the stretch and we found a way to get a rebound and push the lead out. I was really happy with how the girls kept it together late.”
Sophomore Macy Murphey scored nine points for Lake City (3-0), which hosts Boise tonight.
Mountain View (2-1) travels to Post Falls tonight.

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Brookeslee Colvin scored a game-high 23 points for the Vikings, who fell to the Brave in their season opener at Viking Court.
“We just couldn’t get it going,” said first-year Coeur d’Alene coach Stacy Boyd, who took over after the resignation of Nicole Symons, who led the Vikings to back-to-back state titles the past two seasons. “We got out out to a slow start and really couldn’t get it going. We got within five in the third, but they kind of creeped away on us. This team this year, we’ll get it going in the next month.”
Coeur d’Alene hosts Owyhee tonight.
Kaity Haan and Avery Patricco scored 15 each for Boise (3-1), which travels to Lake City tonight.

POST FALLS — Senior Riley Beck scored 24 points for the Storm, who jumped out to a 42-14 halftime lead against the Trojans at The Arena.
“We got hit in the mouth in the first half and didn’t respond right away,” Post Falls coach Mike Divilbiss said. “We were much better in the second half, but they hit us in the first half. They’re quicker minded and have a little more experience. We’re still on our journey and working to get better.”
Freshman Annabelle Tucker scored 16 points for Post Falls (1-2), which faces Mountain View of Meridian tonight.

“I was really happy with our defense tonight,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We were in good position, had good pressure on the ball and executed in our half-court defense.”
Diana Nelson scored nine points for Timberlake (2-0), which travels to Lakeside on Saturday.
