MY TURN RESPONSE: The source of poison
Faye Higbee has a very short memory. She wrote about the presidential election in her My Turn column on Thursday, saying, “the whining leftists are doing what they did last time: throwing a hissy fit. The difference this time is that the victory was so strong that all they have is to make ridiculous claims that are in fact, the poisoning of America.”
She has forgotten that in 2020 “the victory was so strong” (Biden won by over 7 million votes) that Trump and his supporters spent four years trying to convince the world he actually won and that the election was “stolen.” Some might call that a “hissy fit.” It certainly qualifies as “whining.” By the way, Trump only won this election by 3 million votes and his opponent immediately and gracefully conceded and congratulated him.
What follows is a sample of warnings by Democrats of what Trump will do once in office (they are, in fact, things Trump himself promised to do), which she dismisses as “poisoning misinformation.” Which is remarkable given he hasn’t taken office yet, so how could she know he won’t do them? Ms. Higbee complains (whines?) that when anyone says anything negative about a candidate for president (something she devotes half her column to), that it is a “symptoms of a deeper problem: a lack of strength. These are also attempts to frighten others when they themselves are frightened based on misinformation. Yelling at those who disagree with them, crying over an election or loud protesting are not strength of character … it is the poisoning of America.”
She certainly got that right. Four years of MAGA spreading Trump’s misinformation certainly did much to poison this nation.
