Hayden advisory committee to recommend increasing impact fees
Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee members debated whether to recommend raising impact fees in 2025 during Tuesday's committee meeting in Hayden.

HAYDEN — The Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee will recommend an increase to impact fees in 2025. That could mean “most commercial impact fees will basically double,” said board member John Young.
DIFAC originally made the recommendation to increase impact fees in August 2023, according to a presentation given Tuesday by community development director Donna Phillips.
The City Council ultimately denied the recommendation, meaning non-residential use impact fees remained the same until now. However, DIFAC maintains the belief that “best practice is that we go with the consultant's recommendation,” Young said. “I don’t think we have much of a choice but to carry it all the way across the board."
The increase in impact fees comes as the city is looking at several major transportation and parks projects within the next five to 10 years.
“We’re playing catch up in Hayden,” said board member Ryan Nipp. “A lot of our infrastructure doesn’t support the growth we’re seeing.”
