Coeur d'Alene man killed in Post Falls crash
POST FALLS – A Coeur d'Alene man died after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on State Highway 41 and West Prairie Avenue, Idaho State Police report.
At about 6:40 p.m., a 75-year-old man from Cocolalla was traveling north on Highway 41 in a Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection.
A 56-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene was traveling west on West Prairie Avenue in a Toyota Prius when his vehicle was struck by the Chevrolet. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
His next of kin have been notified, according to police.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported with minor injuries by ambulance to receive medical care.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Traffic on Highway 41 and West Prairie Avenue was shut down for an hour and partially blocked for almost two hours.
State police were assisted by Post Falls Police, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and the Idaho Transportation Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
