Carr, a junior, won the state 4A girls cross country title in 18 minutes, 50.72 seconds on Nov. 2 at Eagle Island State Park. Carr had been dealing with an injured right foot for most of the season before returning at the district meet. “I was just trying to run through the pain and let it fuel me,” Carr said. “I knew I wasn’t where I should have been fitness-wise. I just tried to be as comfortable as possible in the first stretch. And when it was time to go, I just went for it.”
