Silver Mountain employee struck by accidental gunshot
An off-duty employee of Silver Mountain Resort was injured Sunday when a gun accidentally discharged at the top of the mountain, according to a news release from Silver Mountain.
The gun discharged at about 8:50 p.m. and medical personnel were transported to the Mountain House by a snow groomer to assist. The injured employee was transported down the mountain via the gondola and taken to receive medical care for the non-life-threatening injury.
The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office reported that a handgun in a pants pocket went off when the individual put his hand in his pocket.
Deputies determined the incident to be an accident and said there would be no further investigation.
Shoshone County Fire District No. 2, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and Silver Mountain employees were credited with quickly getting the injured worker off the mountain.
