VETERANS DAY: Schools should be closed

| November 13, 2024 1:00 AM

I am emailing this letter in regard to school attendance on Veterans Day, although I understand the importance of school attendance for all of our children, I am not understanding why children are not honoring the ones who have died so we can live freely. Our country is what it is today because of the many brothers and sisters who perished to stand up for our liberties.

I for one am NOT sending my children to school on Veterans Day. I will teach my children the importance of honoring the ones who gave the biggest sacrifice so we could live in a country that allows us the freedom we have. On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, I will be taking my children to the veterans cemetery in Post Falls and honoring our local veterans by praying for their families and placing flowers on their headstones. Veterans Day is important to every American citizen in the regard that it honors our ability to have, live and enjoy the freedoms that others died for. I believe that I am not the only one to feel this way, and I pray that others will understand where I am coming from.
