ELECTION: No need to fear women’s rights
I would like to respond to the broken heart of Joanne Anglin of Nov. 8. I have great news! Women still have all their rights and absolute freedom! All women still have the right to be intimate or not, and have the equal right to take precautions if they don’t want to get pregnant [They can ask their doctor for options if they aren’t familiar with them.] It’s not right to gamble with the innocent life of another human because of passion or unbridled hormones. What it does mean is that they have the beautiful right to plan ahead before conceiving of another human being. So I do agree with “my right, my body” until conception becomes part of the equation. Then it’s NOT just YOUR body. There is another life involved. So it behooves us of the Boomer [of which I am] and the Greatest generations to educate our children and grandchildren of the responsibility and consequences of intimacy. I am doing that with my six beautiful grandchildren!
So there is no need for us to have broken hearts. There is no loss of rights at all with our recent election. On the contrary, I would advocate, as educated people, that freedom has responsibilities and we would do well to heed them. I am a voting American citizen as well.
