Canfield burning to start Monday

| November 9, 2024 1:00 AM

Slash piles on Canfield Mountain are scheduled to be burned starting Monday.

The city of Coeur d’Alene is working with others on forest fuel reduction efforts within the Canfield Natural Area and the western section of Cancourse down to the east Shaddock Lane trailhead, a press release said.

The trail will be closed during the pile burning, which is expected to last three to five days.

A crew completed the first phase of the treatment, cutting and piling ground and ladder fuels, in August.

The Cancourse is a 138-acre strip of private land on Canfield Mountain spanning from Coeur d’Alene and Dalton Gardens to the Coeur d’Alene National Forest.
