COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Vandal rally falls short at BYU

PROVO, Utah — The Vandal women overcame a 16-point deficit in the first half, tying the game with 2:32 remaining before the host BYU Cougars pulled away for a 67-62 win in the coaching debut of Idaho’s Arthur Moreira.
Hope Hassman, a 5-foot-8 sophomore, shot 7 of 16, including 5 of 10 from the 3-point line, finishing with 23 points for Idaho, which missed its first four shots.
BYU led 42-26 at halftime and 55-45 after three quarters, but the Vandals used an 8-0 run to tie the game at 57-57.
Amari Whiting, a sophomore from Burley High, had nine points and seven rebounds for BYU.
Idaho visits Washington State on Sunday at noon (ESPN+).
