Event Thursday to benefit Growing the STEM nonprofit
Teams of teachers from across the Coeur d'Alene School District will engage in a battle of the brains from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday during Teacher Trivia Night at the Ponderosa Golf Course Capone’s.
The winning trivia title team will take home to their school the “Big Brain Trophy."
Proceeds will benefit Growing the STEM, which offers Math is Cool and other free after-school STEM programs in Coeur d’Alene schools such as Mathletes, STEM Club, STEAM Club, Chess Club, STEAM Book Club and Engineering Club.
“I’ve really benefited from Growing the STEM because it allows me to get involved in the community, specifically in a topic that I’m passionate about," Growing the STEM student board member and Coeur d'Alene High School senior Maddox Le said in an Oct. 28 news release.
He said new to Growing the STEM this school year is an aerospace club he helped launch.
"I’m excited for the program to start because it involves hands-on activities for kids, including a bottle rocket launch,” Maddox said.
The public is invited to join the trivia excitement, honor teachers and support additional STEM programming in Coeur d’Alene schools. Additional team tickets for Teacher Trivia Night can be purchased by searching "Growing the STEM" on eventbrite.com.
All of Growing the STEM's programs are free and supported by donations.
Ponderosa Springs Par 3 Golf Course is at 1291 N. Galena Drive, Coeur d'Alene.
