Larry Paul Brandenburg, 81
Larry Paul Brandenburg departed from us Oct. 12, 2024, just shy of his 82nd birthday. Born on Oct. 17, 1942, in the heartland of Mitchell, S.D., Larry carried with him the essence of small-town warmth when he settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
If you ever had the pleasure of sitting down with Larry over a cup of coffee, you know he had a knack for American history, farming and simply making friends.
Larry was a man who enjoyed contemplating life and the wonders of a world made under skies of blue and fields of gold. Raising crops and animals provided everlasting memories he enjoyed sharing with his beloved grandchildren.
Though his father, Elwood, and his mother, Margaret, predeceased him, their spirit lived on in Larry’s jovial personality and comforting ways. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendie, who was not just his partner in life but his best friend, co-conspirator and the love that kept him grounded. Larry and Wendie enjoyed their married life together, traveling the world, cross country, on horse or by car, boat or in a motorhome — all that mattered to Larry was that they were together. “Let’s get after it,” he’d say, and off they’d go.
He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Tyler Janke, Taylor Gardner, Giabella Janke, Mason Trevena, Tavin Gardner, Evan Trevena and Jensen Trevena; and their parents, Jared and Desiree Janke, Janell and Aaron Gardner, and Jessica and Mykah Trevena.
A celebration of Larry's vibrant life will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at 9044 W. Prairie Ave., Post Falls. We're gathering to remember not only who he was but also the legacy of kindness, humor and wisdom he leaves behind. In a world that's always rushing, Larry taught us to slow down, enjoy the moments and cherish the ones we love. Rest easy, Larry. We’ll keep your memory close to our hearts. Please join us — bring a story or memory to share!
