COEUR d’ALENE — Republican incumbent Leslie Duncan crushed challenger Roger Rowland in the race for Kootenai County Commissioner District 3.

With all 74 precincts reporting Wednesday morning, Duncan had 67,447 votes, 77.4%, while Rowland received 19,677 votes, 22.6%.

Republican Marc Eberlein ran unopposed for the District 1 commissioner seat, reclaiming the seat he lost in 2018 to outgoing commissioner Bill Brooks. After serving two terms, Brooks did not run for reelection.

Kootenai County prosecuting attorney Stan Mortensen ran unopposed. Commissioners appointed Mortensen, a Republican, to the office in 2022, after Barry McHugh resigned in order to take the bench.

The race for four seats on the Kootenai-Shoshone Soil and Water Conservation District was finally decided, with Wesley Evans, Walter Jon Groth, Richard Meyer and Paul Mahlow the winners.
