Lisa Larson, 63
Lisa Denise Cottrell Larson, 63, a Spirit Lake, Idaho, resident, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene. A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at a later date.
Lisa was born April 12, 1961, in Santa Cruz, Calif., to William and Phyllis Cottrell. She was raised as the daughter of a CIA officer in a household that quietly changed the course of history. She grew up in Iran, Connecticut and California. She spent summers at Clearlake, Calif. She attended Tehran American School in Iran and graduated from St. Christopher High School in Santa Clara, Calif. She eventually moved to Hong Kong, where she worked at an English Pub.
Lisa married Bruce Larson on June 5, 1988, in Pleasant Hill, Calif., where they raised two daughters. Lisa was very artistic; she designed crafts under the brand Sundance Creations. In 2000, she moved to Post Falls and worked for Body By Scotty. She later went to work for the U.S. Forest Service in Coeur d’Alene as a biological science technician in their nursery.
While living in Spirit Lake, she enjoyed doing artwork, reading, beadwork, macramé and waterskiing. She also enjoyed her time at the Tom Brown School of Survival.
Lisa is survived by her two daughters, Tanya Larson (Christina Woods) of Arlington, Wash., and Nicole Larson of Anchorage, Alaska; her mother, Phyllis Vickers, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; her brother, Mark (Monica) Cottrell, of Los Gatos, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; partner Jimmy Gleason of Rathdrum and ex-husband Bruce Larson of Sandpoint.
She was preceded in death by her father, who saved the world for his daughter and gave his life for his country.
