Idaho elections so far: Kootenai County votes trickle in

It's 9:55 p.m., and we've got our first batch of Kootenai County votes tallied. Here are the results so far:

Prop 1

Proposition 1, which would overhaul Idaho's election system to include a top-four primary and a ranked choice general election, has only garnered 31.8 percent of the votes. 72.4 percent of Kootenai County voters have opposed the measure so far.

Constitutional amendment

Idaho Constitutional Amendment HJR 5, which would amend the state constitution to provide that individuals who are not citizens of the United States may not be allowed to vote, has garnered 64.5 percent of the votes tallied so far. So far, Kootenai County has voted 67.4 percent in favor.

Congressional races

Rep. Russ Fulcher has a strong lead over Democrat challenger Kaylee Peterson with 71.5 percent of the votes. So far, Kootenai County voters have overwhelmingly voted for Fulcher with 72 percent of the votes. Elsewhere, Rep. Mike Simpson leads Democrat challenger David Roth with 59.2 percent of the votes.

Presidential election

Former President Donald Trump enjoys a sizeable lead over Vice President Kamala Harris with 65.1 percent of the votes. Trump's lead is even stronger in Kootenai County where he's picked up over 72 percent of the votes.

The 558,672 votes counted so far represent 52.2 percent of Idaho's registered voters.

So far, 34,188 votes from Kootenai County have been counted.
