Richard 'Rich' Lee Margason, 83
Richard Lee “Rich” Margason, 83, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home in Kellogg, two days short of his 84th birthday. He was born May 17, 1940, to Luther and Ann Margason in Kellogg, Idaho. Rich was the youngest boy and the second youngest child of six siblings.
Rich attended and graduated from Kellogg High School. He then went to work for Bunker Hill as a pipefitter until its closure in 1982. Rich then went to work for Pintlar, and finally as a security guard for the Superfund cleanup until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time on Cedar Island and going for drives up the Cd'A River with friends. He was a member of the Kellogg Elks for many years, the Bunker Hill 20-year club, involved in junior football and was in a local bowling league. Many might remember him working the morning shift at Dirty Ernie’s back in the '90s.
Rich is survived by his only daughter, Pamela (Kevin) Jones; one grandson, Darin (Latisha) Jones; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Lyla, all of Kingston; one sister, Joann (Jerry) Dolph of Post Falls; and three nephews, Jason Dolph of Spokane, Mike (Lisa) Margason of Kellogg, Joe (Diane) Margason of Silverton. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one niece, Brenda Delbridge.
Rich was always volunteering for St. Rita's Catholic Church in Kellogg, shoveling snow and setting up for many funeral luncheons.
His memorial service will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Kellogg, on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11 a.m., with his friend, Father Jerome Montez, officiating.
