| May 31, 2024 1:15 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Kolbe Coey doubled to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning, and scored the winning run on Chase Saunders’ one-out single as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “AA” squad beat the Spokane Cannons 18U 5-4 on Thursday night at Thorco Field.

After Coey’s double, Mark Holecek’s bunt single put runners at first and third for Coeur d’Alene (2-3).

After a flyout, an intentional walk loaded the bases and Saunders delivered the winning base hit to center field, his second hit of the ballgame.

Caden Robinett struck out, walked two and scattered seven hits in 5.2 innings for the Lums.

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Mt. Spokane on Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Thorco Field.
