HIGHWAYS: Officials taking wrong route

Well, here we go again. The infamous engineers of the Idaho Highway Department have again got their priorities completely our of order. Maybe they should go back to school and learn about traffic surveys and the like.

The recent repaving of Highway 54 from Athol to Bayview is not considered a priority when they only get about 10% of the traffic that the road from Athol west to Spirit Lake does. We have been dealing with the lousy road west of Athol for the past 20-plus years. 

When are they going to fix it? My hope is that with a new set of county commissioners, maybe we can get some pressure on the Highway Department get their act together. For the past 40-plus years that I have lived here I have never seen such a mismanaged Highway Department. As a taxpayer, I demand more for our money.
