Shop and support local youth

COEUR d’ALENE — Community members can support youth who are aging out of foster care by shopping at downtown businesses during “Sip and Shop for Safety Net” week from May 24 to 31. When select items are purchased from participating restaurants and retailers, Numerica Credit Union will donate $1 to Safety Net Inland NW, up to $3,500.

“Every year in the Inland Northwest, hundreds of teens and young adults age out of foster care but still need support,” said Molly Allen and Coleen Quisenberry, cofounders of Safety Net Inland NW, in a press release. “From furnishing apartments to transportation, Safety Net is here. We never want a foster youth to feel like they’re on their own.”

Funds raised will support youth across North Idaho and Spokane.

Participating businesses include Bakery by the Lake, Bean and Pie, Bier Haus, Burger Dock, Crickets Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Evans Brothers Coffee, Fine Brewed Cafe, Gelato by the Lake, Kaiju Sushi and Spirits, Lola Wine Lounge, Magpie, Marmalade, Migliore Olive Oil, Mix It Up — Home and Gift, Seasons of Coeur d'Alene, The Leather Works and Tiffany Blue.
