COURTS: Tennis lovers get the shaft
This month the dual purpose tennis/pickleball courts at Cherry Hill are scheduled to be converted to pickleball only. I would like know how this decision was made.
There are brand new pickleball-only courts at Memorial and the dual purpose courts at Northshire have already been converted to pickleball only. Shouldn’t the city be making these places more inclusive for everyone, not exclusive for the pickleball players?
I understand that pickleball is the current fad in Coeur d’Alene, but as a parent I wish the city would encourage healthier activities and not encourage the young to play a sport geared for the elderly.
I play tennis at Cherry Hill three days a week and there wasn’t even a notice posted until last week, with no ability for public input. This is currently where the Charter Academy plays tennis and it is the only place in Coeur d’Alene to have a public tennis tournament. Why was this a secret and why would they exclude a large part of the population without even asking?
