July 26, 1943 — Dec. 1, 2023

Lois Schlaefer, born Lois Lynne Duea, Lemon Grove, Calif., to Virgil and Sara Duea, sister to Dee Ann Sverdsten, is celebrated in her passing due to her character in life.

Lois was passionate about everything: her community, Pinehurst/Kellogg, Idaho (she ran for State Rep), her faithful-to-the-end college friends from CA Lutheran College, her Back Country Horsemen and line dancing, and her 25 years worth of students from Kellogg Middle School and Pinehurst Elementary. If Mrs. Schlaefer was your teacher or track coach, you were loved! She was our mom, and we assure you that each of you was loved and made a difference in her life. She was, though, most passionate about Jesus. He was her Rock, and because she knew Him, we who also know Him will get to enjoy eternity with Lois.

In life, Lois's greatest treasure was her family: Children John and Jill Schlaefer of Post Fall, Idaho, Sonja and Henry Mullian of Amity, Ore., her five lovely granddaughters, Hailey, Megan, Lydia, Marissa and, Sophia, and their dear husbands, great-granddaughters and her generations of nieces and nephews.

This Memorial Day, please raise a toast to Lois and remember how she made our world better.
