COEUR d’ALENE — JB’s Restaurant appears to have shuttered.

The restaurant located along Appleway is dark and empty, with a note posted on the door saying only “permanently closed.” The reason for the closure is not yet known.

The restaurant hosted a number of local social groups, including a history club and the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans. The history club will now meet Tuesday mornings at Elmer’s, according to a sign posted in front of JB’s.

Don Pischner is part of the “old geezers” club, a group of roughly 12 longtime Coeur d’Alene residents who gather for breakfast at JB’s every Tuesday morning. At least, they did until recently.

“We were quite surprised, to tell you the truth,” Pischner said of the closure. He found out Monday, when he drove past the restaurant and noticed the place was dark.

The self-described geezers are looking for a new breakfast spot.

“It’s kind of hard to find a place,” he said. “We’ll ask around.”
