Yvonne Lohmann DeArmond, 95
Yvonne Lohmann DeArmond died April 27 at 11:11 p.m. in Rathdrum, Idaho, at the age of 95. She passed away at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Yvonne Alice Friedrich was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Perry and Mary Friedrich. She was the oldest girl in a family of 10 children: Donald, Yvonne, Norman, JoAnn, Marlene, William, Robert, Gene, Ronda and Marion Ray. She grew up in Bonners Ferry, helping her family with the children on the farm. Her journey took her to Spokane, where she worked for a dental office and modeled bathing suits for The Bon Marche; one show was televised.
She married William Lohmann in 1955. They happily raised their family. To provide opportunities for her family to experience life to the fullest, she worked three jobs at a time: JCPenney’s as a dental hygienist for Dr. Pat Seale and had her own cake business, The Cake Connection. She retired at age 70. She did all this while taking care of her mother. Yvonne knew she could do anything she put her mind to. William passed away in 1988.
In 1999, Yvonne married long-time family friend Richard DeArmond, and they enjoyed a life of travel and spending time with family and friends. Their travels included visits to Australia, France, South America, the Panama Canal and Puerto Rico. Together, they belonged to the Hayden Lake Country Club. They were generous supporters of various organizations, including Kootenai Medical, the University of Idaho, and Oregon State Beavers athletic teams. Their support was recognized with the dedication of the Richard and Yvonne DeArmond Practice Field in Corvallis, Ore. They were on the last day of their annual trip to Maui when Dick passed away in 2004.
If you met Yvonne, you loved Yvonne. Elegant, kind, and welcoming, Yvonne made everyone she met feel like family. She was a season ticket holder for the Spokane Symphony and enjoyed attending plays and concerts. She enjoyed spending time on the water with her boat filled with her favorite people. She had a passion for traveling. With her family and friends, she traveled to at least 24 countries and several states, but her favorite place was Maui. Her greatest joy in life came from helping her family and friends experience new things. Your life was always better when you knew Yvonne.
She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Greer, Sharlene Wiedenhoff and Nance Worman; son-in-law Bruce Worman Sarah Jones; son-in-law Tim Jones; and her grandchildren, Chris Mills, Heidi and Mike Pryor, Kevin and Leonora Mills, Libby Wiedenhoff, Fritz Wiedenhoff, Jeannette Nash, and Jenn and Ben Jenson, as well as many, many great-grandchildren and other family she always kept close. Family never ceased to be the most important priority in Yvonne’s beautiful life. Her kindness and joy will forever live on in her family. She will be missed.
