Ronald Taylor, 77
Ronald (Ron, Ronnie) Taylor was born Sept. 21, 1946, in Fresno, Calif., to Dorothy and Archie Taylor Jr.
In his early years, the Taylor family moved to East Bakersfield to raise Ron and his younger brother, Geary. Ron graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1964, where he played baseball and football. After graduation, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam War veteran. In 1972, he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Kern County Sheriff's Department. In 1973, he married Dorothy Boulet and adopted her son as his own, Robert. Together, they had a daughter, Jennifer, and resided in Rosedale. In 1990, Ron married Kathy and they resided in the Oleander neighborhood. Ron served as a senior deputy sheriff in the Kern County community until his retirement in 2001. Ron moved to New Hampshire but quickly returned to Bakersfield after his granddaughter, Breanne, was born. Ron stayed in Bakersfield until 2014, then moved on a whim to Hayden, Idaho.
He loved God, golf, guns, America, life, traveling, and having fun! He was a jokester and a prankster. He loved gardening, cooking, baking, making clocks, and entering the chili competitions at The Elks Lodge, where he took first place! Ron knew no stranger and was always laughing and smiling. He was a double cancer survivor and a Godly man. In 2023, Ron was a part of the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He was part of the Elks Club of Coeur d'Alene, an intricate part of Lake City Church of Coeur d'Alene, and loved his community, friends and family. His best buddies were his daughter Jennifer and grandkids, Breanne and Zachary.
With his very full life, Ron passed away in Hayden, Idaho, on March 4, 2024. Ron is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, father Archie Jr, and brother Geary. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his daughter, Jennifer Taylor-Rodriguez, and his grandchildren, Breanne and Zachary. Son Robert Taylor (Melissa); children Brendan, Kirsten, Tristan (Solveig), Madison; and great-granddaughter Freya. Stepdaughter Kathryn Thoman; children Torie, Jet and Jameson. Ron's death was felt strongly throughout both the Bakersfield and Hayden communities. He leaves behind a tremendous amount of friends, numerous special cousins, a niece, endless Ron stories and an amazing legacy.
