PREP TENNIS: Lake City’s Nesbit wins third straight regional title; Coeur d'Alene boys, girls repeat

LEWISTON — Lake City senior Maddy Nesbit won her third straight regional title in girls singles, beating Maddie Hunt of Coeur d'Alene 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match at the 5A Region 1 tournament on Saturday at Lewiston High.

“Maddy has shown a lot of grit and determination this season,” Lake City girls tennis coach Jandi Stowell said. “She fought hard at districts and came out on top. I am so proud of her and can’t wait to see how far she can take it at state this year. She took fourth at state in 2023 and has worked hard this year, and is an even stronger competitor.”

Lake City junior Lincoln Stowell placed third in boys singles to qualify for state.

Coeur d'Alene won the boys and girls team titles for the second straight year.

Coeur d'Alene junior Connor Judson (boys singles), senior Julia Johnson and sophomore Camden Cotant (girls doubles) won regional titles for the Vikings.

The Post Falls boys doubles team of Carson Hunter and Isaiah Robinson also claimed a regional title, beating Lewiston's Ryan Carper and Cayden Beehler in three sets.

State is Friday and Saturday at the Boise Racquet Club.

4A REGION 1

Sandpoint boys, girls repeat as regional champs

Sandpoint freshman Pepper Rickert defeated fellow Bulldog Neva Reseska in straight sets to win the 4A Region girls singles title in Moscow.

Jacob Dawson (boys singles) and the girls doubles team of Sydney Webb and Aubrey Knowles also won regional titles for Sandpoint, which swept team titles.

The Lakeland boys doubles team of Brock Rabel and Jayden Ruelle, as well as the mixed doubles team of Toby Tebbe and Shelby Wear won regional titles.

The state 4A tournament is next Friday and Saturday at the Appleton Tennis Complex in Boise.
