| May 12, 2024 1:00 AM

Kent Raymond Van Hees passed away May 2, 2024, at Hospice of North Idaho. Born on Sept. 28, 1953, in Spokane, he was the youngest of five children born to Butch and Betty Van Hees, Spokane Valley.

Kent attended Central Valley High School and Columbia Basin College, where he excelled in multiple sports. He worked in the auto industry for many years and in several entrepreneurial ventures.

Kent was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his siblings: Jill (Dennis) Raffelson, Spokane Valley; Gail (Dennis) Shelton, Kittitas Valley; Scott (Julie), Spokane Valley; Marc (Colleen) Incline Village, Nev. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, several greats and an endless army of buddies.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of North Idaho staff for their empathetic, excellent care of Kent. Cheers also to the Corner Coffee Bunch. Kent requested that there be no service.

He was the most fun-loving, ready-to-laugh, friend to all, adventure-loving guy most of us will ever know. In writing some thoughts down in his final days, he summed up his life by saying, “I’ve had a great run!”

And the cowboy rides away ...
