HOMES: Preserve our local history

It is very upsetting to see the old beautiful homes and buildings being torn down in Coeur d’Alene and replaced with modern apartment buildings and townhomes.

Traveling in Europe, I noticed how respectful the people are with their old historical buildings, homes and churches — they restore and clean them to be able to keep using and enjoying their history and beauty.

As I drive through Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, I see apartments, apartments and still more apartments! Supposedly they provide housing for more people at lower prices. NOT TRUE! Most apartments rent for $2,000 or more! How can young couples or families ever save enough money to buy a house in their lifetime?

That brings up the houses being built in this town now — MILLION DOLLAR-plus homes! NO ONE needs a million dollar home to be happy and live comfortably!
