Jean (Reagan) Lucy, 92
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Reagan Lucy, who peacefully left us May 8, 2024, at the age of 92.
Jean was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, to her loving parents, Flossie and Charles Bales. After graduating from the University of Idaho, Jean moved to Coeur d’Alene, where she embarked on a career teaching seventh grade English. There, she met the love of her life, William (Bill) A. Reagan, whom she married in 1952. Together, they welcomed eight children into the world: Kathy Larson (Russ), Michael Reagan (deceased), Nancy Reagan (Jodi Foutch), Mary Kerr (Kevin), Bill Reagan (Danelle), Amy Reagan, Polly Stansell (Joe), and Pat Reagan. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her four sisters. William passed away in 1990, followed by Michael in 2019.
Jean was deeply involved in her community and church, dedicating her time to St. Thomas Church, PEO, 3Cs and Hayden Lake Country Club. She also served on the boards of Coeur d’Alene Homes and St. Vincent dePaul of Coeur d’Alene.
In 2005, Jean reunited with a childhood friend, Howard Lucy, the second love of her life, whom she married shortly thereafter. Through this union, Jean gained a stepson, John Lucy, and four grandchildren. They resided in San Clemente, Calif., before moving to Albany, Ore., where Jean found joy in restoring a historic carousel. In 2017, they returned to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to family.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter; she is survived by her husband, Howard, seven of her children, one stepson, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Known for her warm smile and kind words, Jean forged lasting friendships and fostered a tight-knit family. She remained sharp and active until her final moments. As the matriarch of our large Irish clan, Jean will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Thomas Catholic Church (919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814). The graveside service will follow the mass at St. Thomas Cemetery (115 S. 23rd St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814)
