COEUR d'ALENE — The city of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists to participate in its “ArtCurrents” program.

Artists can submit applications for placement of their sculptures around downtown Coeur d’Alene and Riverstone for one year, with an option to renew for a second year. The displayed works should be created and displayed with the intention of selling within the year, with the city of Coeur d’Alene receiving a 25% commission, a press release said.

The selected artists will be paid a stipend of $1,000 for the first year.  A second stipend of $1,000 may be paid to the artists at the start of the second year should the Arts Commission choose to retain the piece.

"ArtCurrents is looking for creative artists who capture the spirit and atmosphere of the environment in which we live," a press release said. "Pieces are encouraged to center on themes or interpretations of the Northwest."

Applications must be received through www.callforentry.org by July 1. Installation of the artwork will begin in October.
