James Whaley, 95

James Walter Whaley, 95, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away May 4, 2024. Jim was born Nov. 27, 1928, to Floyd and Elsie (Johnson) Whaley in Weippe, Idaho. The family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1930.

Jim attended Loffs Bay, Harding School and Coeur d’Alene High School, graduating in 1946. He then served in the Army and was stationed in Seoul, Korea.

He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 41 years. He married Jeanne Womeldorff in 1950. Their union was blessed with 73 years of marriage and three children, James, Patty and Michael. They raised their children in Coeur d’Alene.

Jim enjoyed the beautiful Northwest: Camping, hunting, fishing and ice fishing.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeanne; children: James (and Janelle) Whaley, Patricia (and Scott) Kelly, and Michael (and Karen) Whaley; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elsie, and his sister, Betty Brueggeman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ the King Lutheran Church.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814. The interment will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
