Eleanor L. Grannis, 92

Eleanor L. Grannis, 92, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away at Orchard Ridge Memory Care on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Eleanor was born in Potlatch, Idaho, on June 13, 1931, to Clifford F. Anderson and Eleanor Lee Anderson. The family moved to Coeur d’Alene when Eleanor was 5 and she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1949.

Eleanor married Raymond Grannis on April 6, 1950, in Coeur d'Alene. Their son, Mark, was born in Colorado Springs while Ray was on active duty in the Idaho National Guard during the Korean conflict. Daughter Lynette was born in Coeur d’Alene after they returned from Colorado Springs. Eleanor worked alongside Ray in their petroleum business until she retired. Ray and Eleanor sold the business in 2019, and he passed away in 2020 after 69 years of marriage.

Eleanor was a member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter BF, Daughters of the Nile, Campfire Girls and Jobs Daughters. She was an avid bridge player, participating in several bridge groups. Eleanor was a generous supporter of several local charities. She enjoyed many sports throughout her life, including bowling, snow skiing, ice skating, water skiing and snowmobiling. She was an excellent swimmer and a huge fan of men’s and women’s Gonzaga basketball. She loved animals and traveling with Ray.

Eleanor is survived by son Mark (wife Nancy) Grannis of Twin Lakes; daughter Lynette (husband Michael) Arhutick of Coeur d’Alene; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her sister, Leone Patzer of Coeur d’Alene. Eleanor’s family was very important to her.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID 83835. Graveside services will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
