NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Board of Trustees of Coeur d’Alene School District 271 will be conducting a public hearing at the Midtown Center Meeting Room at 1505 N. 5th Street, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814, on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the hour of 4:00 p.m. PST of said day for the purpose of hearing public comments regarding any proposed fee increase beyond the limits established in Idaho Code 63-1311A. The hearing shall consider fee increases for: MEAL PRICE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2024-2025 & FACILITY USE RENTAL FEES Meal Price Recommendations: The proposed increase results from reduced reimbursement rates, and increased food, equipment and labor costs over the past two years. These increased costs require an increase to meal prices for the 2024-2025 year to be near the National Target Weighted Average. Section 205 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 establishes the requirement for the paid lunch prices and non-Federal source contributions. This rule takes a weighted average for the paid meals served. If a district does not want to raise prices, it would then need to cover the non-federal source contribution from state or local sources. Because alternate fund sources are not available, administration is recommending an increase to the meal price to cover the increases to costs. Facility Use Rental Fees: Rental Fees have not been updated since 2014 and are below industry standards in many scenarios. The Fee Increase Hearing will consider a completely new fee structure for rental of District Indoor and Outdoor Facilities. Proposed fees will be published as part of the May 20, 2024 meeting agenda that will be available on the district website at www.cdaschools.org/Page/6957 on May 17, 2024.
