SHERIFF: Norris doing superb job

| May 3, 2024 1:00 AM

Sheriff Norris has done so much for our community. It saddens me that people overlook the many achievements he has done during his tenure.

He has stabilized the Office and deputies are no longer fleeing to other agencies. Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is a destination agency rather than a training ground for other departments.

Combatting the flow of fentanyl by increasing arrests in Kootenai County. He works closely with Border Patrol to ensure our safety. He has come out into the community by hosting Coffee with the Sheriff, town hall meetings, etc.

Let’s also look at the helicopter, finds lost children, assists our law enforcement in aerial support of criminal events. It saves lives, allows our deputies to locate criminals who invade our community, at no cost to taxpayers. The helicopter was donated by members of the community who have a passion for aviation.

His record on the waterways is outstanding. For the last two years there have been no vessel-related deaths, critical injuries or major vessel on vessel collisions. This has never occurred in Kootenai County, the busiest waterways in the state of Idaho.

The Sheriff’s Office has received over $1.3 million in donated assets under Norris’s tenure to better serve the citizens of Kootenai County. I am saddened to hear all the false rumors that have been circulating in our community. He is working 365 days, 24 hours a day. This is more than a job for him, it is his commitment to the many citizens of Kootenai County. I support Sheriff Bob Norris!
