In loving memory of Barbara Jean McLean

Barbara Jean McLean, born in Sioux Falls, S.D., on March 14, 1936, passed away peacefully April 24, 2024. Barbara was a beloved member of her community, known for her unwavering dedication and compassionate spirit.

Barbara proudly served in the Armed Forces, embodying courage and patriotism throughout her service. Her commitment extended beyond her military duties, as she passionately supported organizations like T.A.P.S and Angel Flight, where she touched countless lives with her generosity and kindness. Barb was a talented artist, painting many beautiful pieces. She loved to teach art and had numerous students over the years. Her Catholic faith was very important. Barbara was a longtime member of St Thomas Parish in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

In addition to her service, Barbara devoted herself to the betterment of her community through her involvement with the local Project Linus Chapter. Her selflessness and dedication left a lasting impact, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Barbara shared 40 years of marriage with Leonard McLean, who preceded her in death. Together, they created a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew them.

Barbara is also preceded in death by her son, Patrick McVay. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Hoffman, Colorado; grandchildren Chad (Morgan), South Dakota, Tanner and Kyle, Colorado; and great-grandchildren Parker and Asher, both in South Dakota.

Though Barbara's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service and compassion that will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with the graveside service to follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Idaho www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org in Barbara's honor.
