RECYCLE: If not now, when?
Are we someday going to get serious about recycling in Coeur d’Alene? The first Earth Day was many years ago…
Apartment complexes, condominiums and senior facilities have “dumpsters” for trash. Sometimes “broken-down” cardboard is separated, but usually contained with food garbage. For nine plus years, I took a taxi to the transfer station and Ramsey Park for the glass… My last trip I was told the only batteries they separated were the rechargeable batteries!
If the young people can collect bottle caps and have a “Buddy Bench” made for their school and a fraternal organization collect plastic and have a bench built for the veterans home, why can’t we do better?
I have enough 1s and 2s (recyclables) in my garage to start a bench for Citylink and I am sure many seniors also do.
Please publicize any such efforts. Our drive-through coffee stands could be the seed of a huge compost company with restaurant food waste.
