COLUMN: The bully strikes again

| March 31, 2024 1:00 AM

In his latest column (https://cdapress.com/news/2024/mar/22/opinion-party-on-gem-state-heist/) Brent Regan chooses to do what most bullies do. When they are outsmarted or can’t admit to facts, they lash out with lies and name calling.

His column seeks to squash any notion that his IFF-influenced Republican Party isn’t the only true Republican base in the state of Idaho. Dissenting voices are not allowed, and any difference of opinion in opposition to his control of the KCRCC is just flat out wrong and a basis to be ridiculed.

His latest opinion column enforces this perspective. He calls Republicans who don’t agree with him the “Old Guard.” They will “suffer a similar fate as Benedict Arnold” and end up “despised by both sides as traitors.”

He rails about the Open Primary Initiative breaking the system. In reality, it would break HIS system and the control HE has over it. Open primaries and Ranked Choice Voting push elected officials toward the center of the electorate, and away from Mr. Regan’s extremist support.

My favorite part of the column is what he calls the opposition: The North Idaho Republicans & democrats (NIRd). He uses this phrase five times in his column. Say it out loud. He’s literally calling the opposition nerds. Nothing like an insult from the 1950s to make your point. It’s lamer than Hillary Clinton calling Republicans a “basket of deplorables.” I fully expect to be told to “sit on it” next.

Keep it up Mr. Regan. Your columns are just common (non)sense.
