Post Falls senior guard Brooklynn Brennan is ready for whatever’s next.

Whether it be the final two months before graduation.

Or the final moments of her high school career on a basketball court in Tuesday's Jack Blair Memorial Girls Basketball Game at Lewis and Clark High in Spokane.

Brennan, a 5-foot-8 guard, signed with Division II Montana State-Billings in November.

“My sister (Bayley) played in the GNAC (Great Northwest Athletic Conference) at SPU (Seattle Pacific University), so I was really familiar with a lot of the teams in that league,” Brennan said. “I was just reaching out to some of the schools that I knew, and caught (Montana State-Billings coach) Kevin (Woodlin’s) eye.”

Montana State-Billings went 28-7 this season, advancing to the West Region Championship game before falling to Cal State San Marcos 73-71 on March 18.

“They’re a really solid program,” Brennan said. “Coach Kevin just got conference Coach of the Year this year. And each player had some great things to say about the program and where’s going in the future.”

Brennan also visited NAIA schools Eastern Oregon in La Grande and Arizona Christian in Glendale, Ariz., before deciding on MSU-Billings.

“Billings just felt like home on my visit,” Brennan said. “Those other schools were nice and offered a lot. But Billings just felt right. If anything, I just felt that I wanted to get away from home and have that experience. I wanted to grow up a little bit on my own.”

Bayley Brennan recently wrapped up her playing career at Eastern Oregon.

“With the whole process, especially my workouts, it was based on her,” Brennan said. “I worked out with her a ton and she taught me that tough mentality and nothing comes easy. It was really great to have her for that.”

Likewise, Bayley Brennan is a point guard.

“She really taught me that you’ve got to work for everything,” Brennan said. “Nothing comes easy. And I really feel like she executed that through her highs and lows.”

On Tuesday, Brooklynn Brennan had 10 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Region, which held off the Metro All-Stars 75-74 in the Jack Blair game.

Brennan was the only player from North Idaho who participated in the game, which featured players from around the northwest (Region) against stars from Greater Spokane League (Metro).

“It was a little different, but the girls were very welcoming,” Brennan said. “I was really excited that it wasn’t the end of my playing career and I got the chance to play against some other girls that were going to college.”

Brennan hit a 3-pointer with 2:40 remaining to give the Region a 73-71 lead. Draeyelle Domebo hit a 3-pointer to make it 75-74 with eight seconds remaining. The Metro missed a game-winning layup at the buzzer.

Brooklynn Brennan scored 19 points for the West All-Stars in the District 1 game at the Mullan Pavilion on March 15.

“This one was a lot different for sure,” Brennan said. “Knowing we’re all in it together and going for the same goal was nice to see.

Teagan Colvin of Coeur d’Alene, a UNLV signee, sat out the Jack Blair game with an injury. Three other local players who were invited to play in Tuesday's boys and girls games declined due to being out of town for spring break this week.
