KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nebraska's Ridge Lovett, a redshirt junior from Post Falls High, finished sixth at the NCAA wrestling championships at 149 pounds on Saturday at the T-Mobile Center.

Lovett, the top seed, lost by a 3-1 decision to Kyle Parco of Arizona State in the fifth-place match, concluding his season 27-4. Parco was the tournament's second seed at 149 pounds. The top eight in each weight class earned All-American honors. It was the second time Lovett has been honored (2022).

Caleb Henson of Virginia Tech, who beat Lovett in Friday's semifinal round 1-0, defeated Michigan's Austin Gomez by a 15-7 major decision to capture the national title.

Carter Starocci (174 pounds) and Aaron Brooks (197) of Penn State joined five other four-time champions with wins on Saturday. Cael Sanderson, the Nittany Lions coach, won four straight at Iowa State.

Penn State won its third straight team title with a record 172.5 points. The Nittany Lions have won seven of the last eight titles dating back to 2016.

Penn State's Tyler Kasak beat Lovett 10-1 in the consolation semifinals earlier on Saturday.

Lovett, who redshirted during the 2022-23 season, advanced to the 2022 championship match.
