COLLEGE WRESTLING: Former Post Falls star Lovett into quarters of NCAAs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ridge Lovett, a redshirt junior from Post Falls High and top-seed at 149 pounds, beat Indiana's Graham Rooks by an 11-4 decision in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Thursday, advancing to today's quarterfinal round at the T-Mobile Center.

Lovett (26-1), pinned Michael Cetta of Rutgers in 1:30 in the first round.

In 2022, Lovett advanced to the championship match, falling to Cornell's Yianni Diakomihalis 11-5 in the 149-pound final.

The quarterfinals begin at 9 a.m., and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Minnesota's Drew Roberts, a redshirt sophomore from Coeur d'Alene High, went 0-2 at 149. Roberts lost in the first round to Chance Lamer of Cal Poly 7-2, then fell to Tyler Kasak of Penn State by major decision 14-5. Roberts finished 19-10.
