Sheriff's Office Notable Calls

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office published the following notable calls that occurred between March 9 and March 14. The sheriff’s office describes this information as preliminary and subject to revision as investigations continue.

March 11 – Deputies responded to Trademark Mechanical for a malicious injury to property report. An unknown suspect damaged some vehicles by spraying spray foam into the exhaust pipe. A report was completed.

March 11 - A deputy made a traffic stop at Seltice and Herborn for a traffic violation. The driver admitted he was suspended and was detained for the offense. A search of the vehicle yielded meth, fentanyl and paraphernalia. He was also charged for those offenses.

March 11 – Deputies responded to a house for probationers in Hayden. The suspect was contacted and was highly intoxicated. The victim did not want to press charges, but the suspect’s probation officer requested a search of the room and more alcohol was found. The suspect was arrested for a probation violation agent’s warrant.

March 11 – Deputies handled a two vehicle accident at Hanley and Davenport. Minor injuries.

March 11 – A deputy checked out with a suspicious vehicle in the Hauser Smoke Shop. The deputy observed two subjects passed out in the vehicle, with paraphernalia in plain view. The subjects were detained and a further search of the vehicle yielded a stolen military ID and credit card, and other felony drugs. The subjects were arrested for Possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property and paraphernalia.

March 12 – Deputies assisted detectives with a traffic stop and drug investigation. Ultimately, as a result of the traffic stop, a search warrant was obtained for a residence. Methamphetamine and a plethora of paraphernalia was located. The male from the stop was arrested for possession with intent to deliver meth and other drug charges.

March 12 – Deputies responded to a report of an overdose. Upon arrival, it was learned a male had consumed Kraton from a gas station and was having a reaction. After being cleared by medical, he was given a ride to Kootenai Health at his request.

March 13 – Deputies responded to another trespassing call in the Athol area. This was related to a road that a resident in the area was trying to build. This is an ongoing issue and today vehicles and other equipment were moved to block the road. A report was completed documenting the incident.

March 13 – A male called dispatch and stated he wanted to turn himself in for his active warrant because he did not want to walk to the jail and turn himself in. Deputies contacted the male at his location in Hayden and he was arrested without incident.

March 13 – Deputies facilitated a citizen arrest request from a reporting party after he was battered by his son.

March 13 – Deputies responded to a fight. It was reported that a male had come to the location and punched the reporting party’s current boyfriend. The suspect was gone and a report was completed.

March 13 – Deputies responded to I-90 around MP 18, the Memorial Bridge, for a suicidal subject. The male called and advised he was suicidal. His location was obtained and Deputies were able to make contact with the male. The male was taken to Kootenai Health.

March 13 – Deputies responded to an unknown disturbance call in the Hayden area. Deputies arrived on scene and learned a male was having a manic episode and battered someone and caused some damage. The male was placed under citizen arrest and transported to the jail.

March 13 – Deputies made a traffic stop in the area of Prairie Avenue and Huetter Road. During the contact, the driver was determined to be intoxicated and was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a possible domestic dispute. The domestic dispute was only verbal but the male subject had a felony warrant and was arrested without incident.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a possible overdose. It was reported a female collapsed in the residence and was exhibiting signs of a possible overdose. Medical transported the female.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a trespassing call off of Riverview. The reporting party advised construction workers that they were using the reporting party’s property to gain access to their site. The construction workers were warned to staff of the property and were trespassed from the reporting party’s property.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a residence in Hayden for a psychological issue. Deputies contacted a female who advised she is having some mental health issue but is not intending to harm herself. She was given information and resources to help her with her struggles.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a residence in Hayden for a report of a fight. It was reported a male had forced his way into a residence and was confronted by the homeowner who had a firearm. When deputies arrived on scene it was learned the incident was due to a recent breakup and the suspect had fled. Deputies were able to eventually track the suspect down and contacted him at his residence. After the interview, the suspect was arrested under a citizen arrest for unlawful entry and malicious injury to property.

March 14 - Deputies responded to a residence for an unwanted subject. The reporting party called and advised she and her husband were having issues with their adult son. Contact was made with both parties and the son agreed to leave for the night. After deputies left the residence, the son made a comment that he was going to commit suicide. Deputies were called and were able to locate the son in the Cabela’s parking lot. He advised he was not suicidal and only made the statement to get a rise out of his parents. Deputies checked on the male throughout the night.

March 14 – While in the parking lot of Super 1 Foods in Athol, a detective located a wanted subject sitting inside a vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene to cover and ended up taking the male into custody on his warrant. The male admitted to having drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded marijuana, methamphetamine and paraphernalia. The male was also arrested for intent to deliver marijuana and possession of meth.

March 14 – Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident on Hayden Lake Road and Lancaster Road. The driver advised he swerved to miss an unknown animal in the road. The vehicle left the road and went down a ravine. The driver was not injured, however the driver showed signs of intoxication. An investigation was conducted and the driver was charged for DUI.
