DEFENSE: Why we have 2nd Amendment

| March 15, 2024 1:00 AM

Whether local, state or federal, law enforcement has no mandate to protect a U.S. citizen. They all have a mandate to ENFORCE THE LAW. Our founding fathers understood this when adding the Second Amendment to the Constitution. The God-given right of self-defense of one’s person, family, property, cattle, horses, etc., is an individual responsibility — just part of a well-regulated militia.

Consider the term well-regulated: To purchase a firearm, the purchaser must be (in most cases) 18 years old, mentally competent, not be a convicted felon, or convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence. Several laws on the books prevent a person from using a firearm illegally. Of course criminals have no intent of being identified with a well-regulated militia. An abundance of feel-good laws will not sway their thinking (although a return to swift capital punishment may give SOME pause).

Getting back to law enforcement, do you as a law-abiding citizen want to wait patiently for the delay time of a deputy’s arrival while a drug-crazed perp, or illegal immigrant, or fleeing felon tries to beat down your door?

Please leave me out of that equation.
