PREP ROUNDUP: Lake City romps over Gonzaga Prep in opener

SPOKANE — Junior Travis Usdrowski went 3 for 6 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Lake City Timberwolves in a 16-7 win over the host Gonzaga Prep Bullpups on Thursday.

The game, previously scheduled for last Saturday, then again for Wednesday at Lake City, was moved to Spokane due to wet field conditions at Lake City High.

Junior Owen Mangini had an RBI single and run scored for Lake City in its season opener.

Gonzaga Prep is 1-2.

Lake City travels to Lewiston for a doubleheader on Saturday.

ST. MARIES — Logan Walsh went 3 for 3 with two doubles and five RBIs for the Tigers in a nonleague win over the Lumberjacks at City Park.

Acacia Pecor struck out five for Timberlake (1-2).

“Logan hit the ball extremely well,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said. “We got on them early in the first inning. Acacia did her job on the mound and we made plays behind her when they made contact.”

Timberlake travels to Sandpoint today.

St. Maries travels to Liberty of Spangle, Wash., for a doubleheader today.

Lake City sweeps Post Falls

in season-opening dual

COEUR d’ALENE — Lake City junior Garrett Leonard notched a win in the 100-meter dash, as well as a winning leg in the 4x100, leading the Timberwolves to a dual win over the Trojans at Lake City High.

Lake City’s boys defeated Post Falls 62-59. The Timberwolves also defeated the Trojans 62-51 in the girls meet.

Lake City junior Hazel Kunkel had wins in the 800 and 1,600.

Both teams will compete in the Sweeney Invitational on Friday in Lewiston.
