TREES: Re-leaf city parks, walkways first

| March 13, 2024 1:00 AM

I noticed the article on March 7 regarding “City plants future with trees.” This appears to be an effort to increase trees through the Re-Leaf CDA Program.

The city should look no further than their own parks and beach areas where a Re-Leaf Program should be implemented. I’m speaking specifically of the City Park and Beach Boardwalk area.

I’ve noticed over the past 20 years that due to storm damage, disease or neglect, the trees along the beach boardwalk never get replaced. There are at least 20 dirt squares that are bare dirt, never any effort by the city to replace those trees.

How about taking care of your own responsibilities first? The boardwalk is a blight to an otherwise beautiful park and beach.
