Yvonne M. Martin, 84

| March 9, 2024 1:00 AM

Yvonne M. Martin, the only child of Leslie George and Delores Dunn, was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Flandreau, S.D. Yvonne and her family moved to North Idaho Farragut Naval Training Station near the end of World War II. Her father worked at the Farragut Base store. Later, her family moved to Hayden Lake and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High school. During the end of high school and after graduating, Yvonne worked as a dental assistant. On June 13, 1959, Yvonne married the love of her life, Bruce D. Martin. They had three children, Leslie, Patrick and Michael, over the next six years.

In 1976 the family moved to Genesee, Idaho, where they continued to raise their children. Yvonne returned to work as a dental assistant, until she retired in 1984. After her children graduated high school, she and Bruce lived in various towns in northern Idaho and eastern Washington. After 40 years of marriage, Yvonne lost her beloved husband, Bruce, to a heart attack and stroke, in 1999. She never remarried, saying she spent her life with the perfect man. In 2003, Yvonne moved to Boise, Idaho, to be close to her daughter Leslie and watch her grandsons grow up. While in Boise, Yvonne lived for many years at Summerwind Assisted Living.

The final years of her life were spent living at Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she was incredibly happy and well cared for. She passed away Dec. 20, 2023, in the presence of her children. Yvonne is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating Yvonne’s life at the memorial service March 16, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Living Water Fellowship in Rathdrum, Idaho, 14739 Highway 53, 83858. Her final resting place will be beside her beloved husband, Bruce, in the Forest Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
