COEUR d'ALENE — The Human Rights Education Institute is bringing a month of programming focused on Women's History Month, highlighting Female Human Rights Heroes.

The exhibit will remain up through the end of March and celebrates notable women possessing rich experiences in leadership and diverse backgrounds and demonstrating a strength of character to be agents of change, a press release said.

HREI on Friday hosted a breakfast networking celebration in honor of International Women's Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

This year, the campaign theme, "Inspire Inclusion," emphasizes the importance of diversity and empowerment in society. It underscores "the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and create environments where all women and girls are valued and respected," the release said.

One of the key pillars of Inspire Inclusion is the promotion of diversity in leadership and decision-making positions, the release said.

"Women, especially those belonging to underrepresented groups, continue to face barriers when seeking leadership roles," the release said. "By championing inclusion, organizations and communities can harness the full potential of diverse perspectives, leading to better decision-making and innovation."

Organizations and groups can #InspireInclusion through action in areas such as recruiting, retaining and developing diverse talent; designing and building infrastructure meeting the needs of women and girls and helping women and girls make informed decisions about their health.

Anna Segall, chief executive officer of the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts, said when girls are inspired to put themselves forward there is a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.

"Our vision is a world that is fair for everyone, where girls and women are not held back by any aspect of who they are, what they believe or where and how they live," she said.
