ARTICLE: Unfair shots at law enforcers

| March 8, 2024 1:00 AM

The front-page article titled “Blind Woman Shot 9 Times” is extremely misleading and does our excellent local law enforcement a huge disservice. We quickly learn the shooter is an officer, the woman committed no crimes, and she died — all on the front page. A clear implication law enforcement executed a blind woman. It’s only upon reading the rest of the buried article that we get the REAL story.

The woman was hiding with a loaded gun, safety off, weapon pointed and waiting. With repeated announcements by law enforcement officers, they were there to check on her, she remained concealed. When discovered, she instantly opened fire in a small confined room with at least two officers, and they returned fire to stop the close range mortal danger to their lives.

I tire of the Coeur d’Alene Press’ liberal viewpoints and this is a classic. Liberals across the country have defunded law enforcement and it was done by using the press. Please do not deliberately impune my excellent law enforcement with this drivel. I get the impression that if Bonnie and Clyde were caught in Kootenai County, your headline would read “Young Honeymooners Out For A Drive Slaughtered by Police.”

Our area officers are well educated, well trained and of the highest moral and ethical character. All day and all night, they deal with the roughest criminals and most dire situations in the county so we can all sleep securely in our beds. Please show more respect.
