Trinidie Nichols

Columbia Basin basketball

Nichols, a 5-foot-5 sophomore guard from Post Falls High, was named East Region Most Valuable Player following the regular season after leading the Hawks (23-2, 16-0 NWAC) to the East Region title. Nichols averaged 17 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, starting all 25 games this season. Nichols was also named to the all-defensive team.

Dylan Lovett

Walla Walla basketball

Lovett, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard from Post Falls High, was named to the All-East Region first team after averaging 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Warriors (20-7, 12-2 NWAC), who will be the East's second seed at the NWAC Championships this weekend in Pasco, Wash. Walla Walla opens with Clackamas on Friday at 6 p.m.

Brielle Magnuson

Walla Walla basketball

Magnuson, a 5-foot-10 freshman post that played her freshman season at Post Falls High before transferring to Rocky Mountain of Meridian, was named to the East Region first team after averaging 17.7 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Warriors this season.

Lexie Heath

Columbia Basin basketball

Heath, a 5-foot-5 sophomore guard from Post Falls High, was named to the All-East Region team after averaging 14.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Hawks, who will open the NWAC Tournament against Portland, the fourth-seed from the South Region, on Friday in Pasco, Wash.

Capri Sims

Central Washington basketball

Sims, a 6-foot freshman forward from Post Falls, was named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference team, starting 25 games and appearing in all 29 for the Division II Wildcats of Ellensburg. Sims had 9.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game and was 12th in the nation with 113 offensive rebounds. Sims is tied for 48th in total rebounds (243). "Capri had a great freshman year," Central Washington coach Randi Richardson-Thornley said. "The strength and effort she plays with is so impressive and such a great foundational piece of her game. The pressure she took on nightly as a freshman to defend and rebound inside was tremendous, especially being undersized. In addition to that, Capri has shown such a want and willingness to be coached all year long, and because of that, the sky is the limit for her. I'm proud of her season, and the growth she showed. The recognition is well deserved."

Bayley Brennan

Eastern Oregon basketball

Brennan, a 5-foot-7 graduate student guard from Post Falls, was named to the All-Cascade Conference team, announced earlier this week. Brennan was ninth with 14.6 points per game and led the conference with 3.2 3-pointers per game, with an average of .385 (89 for 231) from the 3-point line. Brennan is now fourth at the school with 94 3-pointers made in a single season.
