| June 29, 2024 1:00 AM

COEUR d'ALENE — The first Lemonade Day in Kootenai County is set for July 20 in Kootenai County.

Lemonade Day's Entrepreneurial Program is designed to empower kids by teaching them how to earn their own money, set goals, boost self-esteem and develop innovative mindsets, according to a press release.

The goal is to register 100 youth who will launch new businesses across Kootenai County on a single day.

"Lemonade Day is a community effort where everyone plays a crucial role," a press release said. "Young entrepreneurs will need the guidance of mentors and the support of enthusiastic customers."

Kids can set up their lemonade stands in neighborhoods, parks, marketplaces, places of worship, schools and other public spaces to maximize their sales opportunities.

They are encouraged to spend some of their hard-earned money on themselves, save some and share some with a charity, the release said.

Lemonade Day is a nonprofit dedicated to teaching youth in grades K-8 important business, financial, character-building and life skills that are the key ingredients of entrepreneurship.
