LEGION BASEBALL: Lums open Selah tourney with pair of victories

SELAH, Wash. — Nolan Christ went 7 for 7 on the day as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “AA” team beat Shadle Park 10-0 and the Northwest Blaze 18U 12-2 on the first day of the Emily Harris Memorial Tournament.

Christ was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored against Shadle, and was 4 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored vs. the Blaze.

Charlie Dixon pitched a five-inning, two-hit shutout in the opener for Coeur d’Alene (11-9), which has won five straight games. He struck out four and walked one.

In the second game, Ty Shepard went 2 for 4 and drove in five runs for the Lums, three on a third-inning double, and two on a fifth-inning single. Kolbe Coey hit a two-run double in the first inning and finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored for Coeur d’Alene. Owen Mangini singled in a run in the first and hit a solo homer in the third.

The Lums play the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak 18U team today at 5 p.m. as the tourney continues.
